
#101 Lead Safety for Repairs, Renovations & Painting
Course Description: This course is the initial training for a Certified Renovator under the EPA's Lead Safe Repairs, Renovations & Painting guidelines. Lead Safety for Renovations, Repairs & Painting is a certification course for Renovator Initial under Section 402 of TSCA. This course will cover the health effects of lead exposure, the EPA mandated regulations, setting up a work space, how to contain dust during work, how to reduce occupant and worker exposure to lead while renovations, repairs, painting and installations are occurring, how to clean and check your work, and what record keeping you must maintain to show EPA compliance. EPA Certification in this course will be required to avoid fines of $32,500 per offense for contractors, renovators, handymen, installers or any other industries that perform work on a home built prior to 1978 or have lead based paint present and meet work criterion for lead safe practices. This course ends with a certification exam to show compliance with the EPA's ruling taking effect April 22, 2010 for lead safe work practices.
