Cold Climate Class
This 16 hour class is required to apply for a residential endorsement license. It is available on-demand, 24/7 and can be taken anywhere with a laptop or desktop computer and an internet connection. The class is broken down into multiple small segments and can be taken at your own pace. It covers the basics of building science and includes building planning; foundations; construction techniques for floors, walls and roofs; windows; heating systems; ventilation; indoor air quality; and much more. This class also comes with a full color reference guide that you can refer back to after the class is over. The cost of this class is $450
Test Prep Class
This is an 8-hour class that covers material that will be helpful on the state exam. Each book that is permitted to be taken into the state endorsement exam is covered with specific passages and quiz questions. Three full practice tests are also included at the end of the review to sharpen your skills. When taken in conjunction with the cold climate class, the total cost is $650.
Book Rental Program
To take the test prep class and the state exam, you will need the books listed in the candidate bulletin. These books can be difficult to source, if you have trouble finding them, we can rent them to you for the class and the state exam. We require a $600 deposit to reserve a set of books which are mailed to you. Upon completion of the exam mail the books back to us and we will issue a refund of $450. Books will need to be returned to our office at PO Box 251, Kenai AK 99611, or call to make arrangements to drop them off at our office in Kenai.
PSI – State Exam
PSI is the company the State of Alaska has contracted to proctor the Residential Endorsement Exam. This is exam is offered in several locations around the state, check the PSI website for current listings. You will need to register for the State of Alaska Residential Endorsement Exam separately from the classes we offer. You can register for the exam on PSI's website here. Dates and locations of the exam will be given to you upon registration of the exam.
